Book Launch

A Gold Coast great-grandfather has fulfilled a prediction made thirty-five years ago, “You will begin a new career at a time when most others have retired, given-up or passed-on,” the respected psychic said.

Now, at eighty-three, Doug Young from the Gold Coast has become a first-time author with the publication on Amazon and Kindle in the genre erotic Science Fiction of his first novel, Adonis Awakens. This first work, a substantial volume of 676 pages, is the forerunner of what might well be a multi-media saga running for 20 years with 30 episodes a year. The underlying theme of the story is the undeclared war carried-on by Adonis as he battles to bring about a bloodless revolution to put in place a utopia that will survive for millennia. Our hero, Brad Clifford, on the eve of his eighteenth birthday and in a period of great stress and loss, wakens from a highly erotic dream of being Adonis in the arms of the Greek goddess, Aphrodite: to find his dream Aphrodite is his mother, Mary Clifford. Mary had come to Brad in the middle of the night in despair and fearful she might do harm to them both. Mary’s husband of nineteen years, Brad’s father, Bruce Clifford, had been killed in a road crash four days earlier. Mary explains to Brad that he has been identified by the collaborators on the Human Genome Project to have the perfect genome to become the next Most Recent Common Ancestor (MRCA) of Homo sapiens by the male line. He is to have three goddesses to make a family with him and their children will be leaders in the next generation. He will also impregnate one-hundred scientifically selected girls each year to spread Adonis’s superior genome and ethics around the globe. The action moves briskly so that within four weeks Mary has been appointed as the first chair in the newly created Faculty of Genetics at the Australian National University (ANU) and the chair-person of the co-ordinating committee establishing the new Faculty at thirteen other major campuses around the globe.
